Description

This postcard features an interior view of the East End of the Hingham Church in Hingham, England, which was the home of President Abraham Lincoln's ancestors. Samuel Lincoln, the president's first progenitor, migrated to the United States in 1638 from Hingham mostly due to religious controversy in England. A center aisle runs between two rows of pews leading to the front of the sanctuary and the large stained glass window. The postcard reverse is divided with the logo of the Vulcan Series of postcards in the center near the top. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
