Description
This postcard features a room in the house in which Mentor Graham and his son lived after moving to Blunt, South Dakota, in the 1880s. A portrait of Mentor Graham and his wife hangs on the wall beside the window. A table with books on it and a chair behind it as well as an upright piano and a wardrobe are in the room. A print of Abraham Lincoln hangs on the wall above the piano. Mentor Graham met Abraham Lincoln in New Salem, Illinois, and tutored him in grammar and surveying in the 1830s. The postcard reverse is divided. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
