Description

This colored postcard features a view of the Lincoln Memorial Shrine at Redlands, California. Built in 1932, the octagonal-shaped building with a red colored roof houses the Abraham Lincoln bust by George Grey Barnard, the Lincoln murals by artist Dean Cornwell, and a library of Lincoln books and Civil War mementos. A sidewalk leads to the entrance. In 1937, fountains and limestone walls bearing Lincoln quotations were added. The postcard reverse is divided. Narrative text is printed on the left side. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum.
