Description

This black and white lithograph of an original drawing depicts a portrait of President Abraham Lincoln surrounded by 12 smaller portraits of men in an oval format. The men include: Gen. Scott, Hannibal Hamlin, Simon Cameron, Gideon Welles, Montgomery Blair, Gen. Butler, Gen. Anderson, Col. Ellsworth, Caleb B. Smith, Edward Bates, Salmon P. Chase, and William H. Seward. President Lincoln's head and shoulders portrait within a decorative oval border is in the center of the print much larger than the others and is facing the viewer's right. The print is titled across the bottom: "Loyal Americans." In addition to the military men included by the artist those pictured were the members of President Lincoln's cabinet appointed in 1861.
