Description
This tinted lithograph features President Abraham Lincoln in his role as Commander-in-Chief meeting with his commanding officers in the field. Admirals Porter and Farragut are standing to Lincoln's left while he faces Generals Sherman, Thomas, Grant, and Sherridan [sic] (seated.) Lincoln is seated on a rock with his right side toward the viewer. The title, The Council of War, is printed below the scene. Following the title is a quotation attributed to Ulysses S.
