Description

This engraving, done after a painting by Schell, features the family of United States President Abraham Lincoln. Mrs. Lincoln is seated to President Lincoln's right. Their oldest son Robert in his military uniform stands behind his parents. The youngest Lincoln son, Tad, stands to the left of President Lincoln looking at the photograph album resting on his father's knee. A picture of the Lincolns' middle son, Willie, hangs on the wall in an oval frame behind Tad. This is a composite print done from individual photographs because the Lincoln family never posed together for photographers or artists.
