Description
Square piece of fabric with brownish-green background and pink rose floral pattern. Square piece of cream muslin with brownish stains not attached to other piece of fabric. All four corners of floral fabric are frayed. Information associated with this fabric fragment states, "The piece of cloth is from the dress Miss Keene was wearing at the time [of Lincoln's assassination] and was given to L.A. Avery of Franklin Street, Brandon, Vermont by Mrs Louis Ca...mann." Note is referring to the gown that Miss Keene purportedly wore for the performance of "Our American Cousin" at Ford's Theatre the evening President Abraham Lincoln was shot.
