Description
Printed American flag on a low quality cotton, plain weave fabric, features seven red stripes and six white stripes. The blue canton features thirty five white stars surrounding a white circle with the words "Liberty and Union Forever" printed in the middle in blue. According to the donor, this flag draped President Abraham Lincoln's coffin when it lay in state at Indianapolis on April 30, 1865. See ID number 71.2009.081.0011 for a photograph of the Indianapolis funeral setting framed with wood from the bier on which President Lincoln's casket rested from the same donor.
