Description
Cotton linen American flag featuring seven red stripes and six white stripes was used in the 1860 presidential campaign. In the middle of the flag, printed in blue, is "For President, Stephen A. Douglas. Vice President, Herschel V. Johnson." An ovular portrait of Stephen Douglas, the Northern Democratic Party candidate, is printed against a blue field in the top proper right corner. A ring of twenty-nine stars encircles the portrait and four stars are printed in the corners of the square field. "Entered according to Act of Congress in the Year 1860 by H.C. Howard in the clerks office of the District Court of the Eastern District of Penn." is printed underneath the field. The flag is mounted on a poster board.
