Description

This cotton campaign flag featuring seven red stripes and six white stripes was used in the 1860 presidential campaign. The canton in the top inner corner is a blue field with 33 white stars encircling a portrait of John Bell turned on its side. "Brought according to Act of Congress in the year 1860 by H.C. Howard in the clerks office of the District Court of the Eastern District of Penn" is printed underneath the portrait. The following is printed in blue in the center of the flag: "For President John Bell. For Vice President Edward Everett." The flag is mounted on a tan cloth-covered board.
