Description
This linen postcard features the building that was used as the "White House of the Confederacy" located at Twelfth and Clay Streets in Richmond, Virginia, during the United States Civil War. Formerly a private residence, it was purchased in 1862 by the City of Richmond for the use of the Confederate Government. During the war it was also the residence of Confederate President Jefferson Davis and his family. The postcard caption is printed in the upper right corner of the image. The postcard reverse is divided and has narrative text printed on the left side. The number 11486 is printed near the middle of the top edge.
