Description

This colored postcard features the west side of the public square in 1858 in Springfield, Illinois. The white + is placed over the building where Abraham Lincoln had his law practice for several years before being elected as president of the United States in 1860. The caption is printed in red ink in the upper left corner of the image. The postcard reverse is divided with narrative text on the left side.
