Description

This postcard features an illustration of the receiving vault (foreground) and the Lincoln Monument (background) in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. The receiving vault was where the body of President Abraham Lincoln was placed on May 4, 1865. The President's remians were later moved to the tomb beneath the monument where the remains of Mrs. Lincoln and three of their sons also rest. The caption is printed in the top margin.
