Description

This jumbo-sized color postcard features the Lincoln Monument in Oak Ridge Cemetery located in Springfield, Illinois. President Abraham Lincoln, his wife, and three of his four sons are buried in the tomb beneath the monument. A colossal head of Abraham Lincoln in bronze is beside the entrance to the rotunda. Stairs on each side lead to the next level. The obelisk is mounted on a square pedestal which has a round pedestal at teach of the four corners. Bronze statues honoring each of the branches of the military serving during the Civil War are mounted at the corners. A full-length bronze statue of President Abraham Lincoln stands at the base of the obelisk. The postcard reverse is divided. The caption is printed on the left side.
