Description
This postcard is a photograph of a log cabin with three men posed in front of it and one man standing in the doorway. The cabin located near Lincoln Park, Spencer County, Indiana, has a doorway in between two windows. A split rail fence is in front. The postcard reverse is undivided. Although this third cabin was started by Thomas and Abraham Lincoln, it was finished by subsequent residents after the Lincoln family moved to Illinois in 1830. In April 1865, after President Lincoln's assassination, some of the nearby town's residents posed for a photograph in front of the cabin. Mr. Kelsey; Mr. George Medcalf; and Mr. Sanders, the schoolteacher are pretending to split logs in the photograph.
