Description

This postcard is a photograph of the William Henry Harrison House located in Vincennes, Indiana. Harrison was the Governor of the Indiana Territory and later became the ninth president of the United States. Completed in 1804, Harrison reportedly named the house Grouseland due to the abundance of grouse in the area at that time. The house remained in the Harrison family until 1840. The caption is printed along the lower edge of the image. The postcard reverse is undivided. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
