Description

This postcard features a reproduction of a painting of President Abraham Lincoln done by artist Douglas Volk in 1921 in the collection of the Albright Art Gallery located in Buffalo, New York. The artist depicted President Lincoln wearing his shawl and seated and holding a rolled document in his right hand. In the margin below the image the caption and narrative text read: "From a painting by Douglas Volk. Abraham Lincoln. Owned by the Albright Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York. This portrait is based on the likeness seen in the death mask which was made by the artist's father, the sculptor, Leonard Wells Volk, a friend of Lincoln. Copyrighted."
