Description

This tinted postcard features a view of the statue of President Abraham Lincoln from between two columns of the Lincoln Memorial located in Washington, D. C. Sculpted by Daniel Chester French, President Lincoln is depicted seated in a large stately chair with a large United States flag draped over the back of the chair. Each arm is resting on the chair. His head is tilted slightly downward as if deep in thought. The statue rests on a ten-foot high pedestal. A white border surrounds the image with the caption printed in the top margin. The postcard reverse is divided. The number 114202 is printed along the top edge near the middle. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
