Description

This tinted postcard features a patriotic eagle and shield with a head and shoulders portrait of President Abraham Lincoln in the center. Text to the left of the eagle reads: "With charity for all" while text to the right of the frame reads: "With malice toward none." Both phrases are a quotation from President Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address given on March 4, 1865. The postcard reverse is divided. "Series No. 1222 Lincoln Birthday 6 Designs" is printed along the left edge. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
