Description

This tinted postcard features three images of sites related to President Abraham Lincoln. To the viewer's left is a red brick row-house labelled, "House in which Lincoln died." To the viewer's right is a three-story building labelled, "Ford's Theatre, where Lincoln was shot." Between the two images is a stone monument surrounded by trees and grass. Underneath this center image is a gold shield with the label, "Fort Stevens Washington, D. C. Where Lincoln stood in battle July, 1864." The Fort Stevens monument image is flanked with American flags and bayonets. The postcard reverse is divided. Narrative text is printed on the left side describing how each image is related to President Lincoln. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
