Description
This embossed, colored postcard features an open book on a gold-colored stand with a decorative border of pink and red roses around it. On the left hand page is a right-profile portrait of President Abraham Lincoln with his birth and death years above. On the right page is a paraphrased quotation from Abraham Lincoln's House Divided Speech which he gave at Springfield, Illinois, on June 16, 1858: "A house divided against itself cannot endure permanently half slave and half free." The postcard reverse is divided. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
