Description

This postcard is a photograph of Abraham Lincoln supposedly taken on July 4, 1856, in Princeton, Illinois. The real photograph was originally taken in 1857 by Alexander Hesler. W. H. Masters later reversed and retouched Hesler's photograph which he then published claiming that it was taken in 1856 at Princeton, Lincoln is beardless and is turned toward the viewer's left. The caption is printed below the image. The postcard reverse is divided. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
