Description
This sepia-toned postcard was an advertisement for The Prudential Insurance Company of America. It features a head and shoulders portrait of President Abraham Lincoln done from a photograph taken of him on November 8, 1863. The caption above the portrait reads "Born 1809 Abraham Lincoln Died 1865." A quotation taken from President Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address is printed in small type near the lower edge of the portrait. The text in the lower margin is the advertisement for the insurance company and includes the name of the founder, John F. Dryden, as president. The postcard reverse is divided.
