Description

This postcard features a close up view of the 1918 reconstructed Rutledge Tavern located in Old Salem State Park near Petersburg, Illinois. One room on the main level was for the Rutledge family dining and sitting area. The other room was a dining area and a sitting area for the guests. The loft was where overnight guests slept. The sign by the door reads "Rutledge Tavern Home." The name "Reid" is printed near the lower right corner. Abraham Lincoln boarded here for a time after he moved to New Salem in 1831.
