Description

This postcard features a color illustration of Abraham Lincoln as a young man lying on the floor in front of a fireplace. He is depicted holding an unrolled document in front of him with an open book next to it. A quill pen in an ink well is on the floor beside his right hand. A vignetted inset in the upper left corner features the text of a poem by Mary Eyre Wintersmith Robertson about Abraham Lincoln. A circular inset below the poem features an illustration of Lincoln's birthplace cabin. The caption is printed along the bottom edge of the image. The postcard reverse is divided. A handwritten inscription in blue ink from the author to Louis Warren of Fort Wayne, Indiana, is on the left side. The number 61880 is printed along the top edge near the middle.
