Description

This colored postcard features a shield with a head and shoulders portrait of President Abraham Lincoln flanked on each side with a sword and with olive branches under it. A circular inset to the viewer's right contains an illustration of Lincoln's birthplace log cabin. Below the inset is a quotation from Abraham Lincoln's Cooper Institute Speech which he gave at Cooper Union in New York City on February 27, 1860: "Let us have faith that [right] makes might; and in that faith let us dare to do our duty as we understand it." The postcard reverse is divided. "Series No. 1222 Lincoln Birthday 6 Designs" is printed along the left edge. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
