Description
This tinted postcard features a circular-cut, head and shoulders portrait of President Abraham Lincoln framed by laurel branches above the caption and a quotation regarding Christianity attributed to him. A thin-line red and a gold-colored border surrounds the image and text. The postcard reverse is divided. A small drawing of the Lincoln Home in Springfield, Illinois, is on the left side. According to an anecdote related by Francis B. Carpenter in his book "The Inner Life of Abraham Lincoln: Six Months at the White House," Connecticut Congressman H. C. Deming told about a conversation that turned to religion in which President Lincoln spoke the words of the quotation.
