Description
This colored, embossed postcard features the statue of President Abraham Lincoln with an African American man kneeling in front of him by sculptor Thomas Ball titled "Emancipation." A very large American flag is depicted draped around one side of the statue. A laurel wreath hangs from the pedestal. Two scenes in the background depict African American children going to school and African American adults walking toward a church. A gold-colored thin-line border surrounds the whole image. The postcard reverse is divided. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
