Docketed on verso.; John Close first sued John Ritter in the Justice of the Peace court to recover a $73 debt. The jury found for Close and awarded him $73. Ritter then appealed the judgment to the Sangamon County Circuit Court. Abraham Lincoln was called to testify as a witness on Ritter's behalf. The court affirmed the judgment in favor of Close but reduced the award to $35.
