- Handwritten affidavit, 16 x 19 cm, signed by George Close, William Rutledge, John Close, Sr. and Tilman Hornbuckle, and C.R. Matheny, clerk of the circuit court: 'William Rutledge and Tilman Hornbuckle being sworn say that they attended five days each as witnesses in the above case. Sworn before me the 23rd April 1833.' Docketed on verso. Elijah Estep failed to pay Jacob Bale $36.62 1/2 on an account. Bale sued Estep in the Justice of the Peace court to recover the debt and the jury found for Bale. Estep appealed the judgment to the circuit court.
