Description
This broadside announces the Proclamation by Governor John A. Andrew for a day of Special Humiliation and Prayer for the Commonwealth of Masschusetts being postponed from May 25th as originally proclaimed to June 1st at the request of President Johnson. The text of the proclamation continues "I recommend to all people that they unite...in the solemn offices of prayer, penitence and humiliation...receving consolation in their grief for the loss of...the head of the nation..."
