Description

Abraham Lincoln funeral badge features a small brass-cased ferrotype of the President wearing a dark suit, bow tie, and white shirt. The frame is mounted on a rosette composed of two layers of box-pleated black silk. Two white silk tails stream from the rosette (one is now missing and the other is deteriorating). The rosette is mounted on a piece of paper with the following printed in blue text: "This badge was worn by J.M. Leaghton of Manchester, Illinois, while attending the funeral service of Abraham Lincoln at Springfield, Illinois, May 1865." The piece is matted with brown mat board.
