Description

This 33 mm diameter $20 coin features the head of Lady Liberty surrounded by thirteen stars on the obverse. The mint date 1861 is below. The reverse features a patriotic eagle holding a shield in the center with rays above its head. An oval of thirteen stars is between the rays and the eagle's head. The ribbon held by the eagle on the viewer's left has "E Pluribus" inscribed while the other ribbon held by the eagle to the viewer's right has "Unum" inscribed on it. "United States of America" circles around the eagle following the coin's edge. "Twenty D." is imprinted below the eagle following the coin's edge. This coin is one of sixteen different coins that were minted and placed into circulation during the administration of President Abraham Lincoln.
