Description
Small piece of pine wood with handwritten text in ink that reads, "A piece of the table upon which J. Wilkes Booth's body was examined after death. From the Monitor Montauk." John Wilkes Booth shot President Abraham Lincoln in Ford's Theatre in Washington, D. C., on April 14, 1865. Booth was captured and shot on April 26, 1865.
