Description

This is a model of a twelve-pounder smoothbore cannon, the most popular, common, and deadly field piece used during the Civil War. There is a black painted base (a), with wheels (b, c). The base has an attached stand that has a gold-painted cannon resting on it. The wheels are black on the outside while the spokes are brown. The wheels are detached. Hanging from the cannon is a gold metal chain. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
