Description
Circular pin features a reenactment of the debate in Quincy, Illinois between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas. The center of the pin features an illustration of the debate where Lincoln appears on a framed stage or platform in front of a small podium. Behind Lincoln are spectators and perhaps Douglas on the proper right of the podium. Above the figures, there appears to be a representation of trees suggesting the debate took place outdoors. This scene is illustrated on a gold ground with black used to illustrate the scene. The framed stage is white and print appears at the bottom that reads "Lincoln-Douglas Debate Quincy October 13 1858". On the viewer's right of the illustration Douglas is depicted in profile and on the viewer's left Lincoln is also depicted in profile. Above and below the model, arching print reads "Quincy. Lincoln-Douglas Centennial" and "Quincy, Illinois". Directly below the debate stage are the dates of the centennial anniversary, October 9-13, 1858-1958.
