Description

William Wallace "Willie" Lincoln's lock of hair encased in a black gutta-percha daguerreotype case. The case features an embossed floral and scrollwork motif and opens on two hinges. One side of the case is fitted with a swatch of red silk velvet. The other side features a lock of blonde hair neatly tied into a circle with fine thread and backed by a swatch of brown and cream woven cloth. The hair is protected by a piece of glass within its compartment and surrounded by a gilt-metal impressed frame.
