Description
This textile picture of President Abraham Lincoln giving his Gettysburg Address was done on a jacquard loom in England using rayon threads. A painting was commissioned by the owners of Copecrest in Royal Oak, Michigan, with the purpose of sending it to England to be translated for the loom. In this weaving, President Lincoln stands on a bunting-draped platform, silhouetted against a colorful sky. Figures an inch high, are detailed down to the lapel of a coat and the knot of a tie. The weaving is matted in a window frame on the front of the matboard folder. The Copecrest logo is printed in blue ink on page 3 of the folder. Page four includes a brief description of the dedication ceremony at National Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, as well as the text of President Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.
