Description
This print is a program for the Pulitzer Prize winning play "Abe Lincoln in Illinois" written by Robert E. Sherwood in 1939 and performed at the Phoenix Theatre in New York City. The play chronicles the life of Abraham Lincoln during his years living in Illinois in the early 1830s to early 1861. The names of the cast members and the scenes in each of the three acts are listed on the front side. On the reverse side of the program is an announcement, "A New Concept in Theatre for School Audiences," and brief biographical paragraphs for ten members of the cast and the director and his staff as well as the credits.
