Description

This campaign button is the largest of the three assembled in a single shadowbox. The image of Abraham Lincoln is a photograph taken of him on February 27, 1860, by Mathew Brady in New York. Lincoln had traveled to New York to speak at the Cooper Union Institute the same day as the photograph was taken. Lincoln wore a black coat, white shirt, and black bow tie and was clean shaven. The inner rim of the frame is a copper color and the outer rim is a dark gold color. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum.
