Description
This is a commemorative ribbon made out of white silk. The ribbon is rectangular in shape and trails to a point at the bottom. The top of the ribbon is decorated in a light blue and gold leaf motif, with the words "Assassinated at Washington 14 April 1865. I have nothing but what I am willing to live by and if it be the pleasure of Almighty God to die by (A Lincoln)" written in black lettering under that. In the center of the ribbon is a portrait of Abraham Lincoln. A gold oval with white stars surrounds the portrait. At the top of the oval is a light blue, white, and gold shield and an eagle holding a light blue ribbon in its mouth that reads, "E Pluribus Unum." Light blue leaves and architectural elements are on either side of the eagle. Below Lincoln's portrait are the words "The Late Lamented President Lincoln." The word "Lincoln" is in light blue lettering and the rest are in black. Behind the words is a thin gold flower and stem design. Two American flags are embroidered in light blue, white and gold thread on the tail. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
