Description

This is a piece of the replica wallpaper manufactured for the restoration of the presidential box in which President Lincoln sat at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D. C., on the evening of April 14, 1865. The wallpaper features a deep carmine red or rich burgundy red background with a repeated pattern of two floral stripes alternated with three columns of much lighter red or "Pompeiian Pink" leaves on stems. A very fine laurel leaf vine in an "Ivory Black" color runs between the two floral stripes. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
