Description

a) Myriopticon features a navy-blue cardboard theater box with an opening cut into the face; the opening is surrounded by a hand-colored lithographed image of curtains, bunting, musicians, and actors. A hand-colored lithographed panorama scroll is secured inside the box. The 22 panorama illustrations depict scenes from the American Civil War, commencing with Major Anderson's attack of Fort Sumter in 1860. b-c) Two wooden pegs that fit into the top of the box serve as hand cranks to advance the panorama scroll inside. The original box lid is missing. d-t) Seventeen white (and brown) paper admission tickets read: "Reserved Seat. Admit the Bearer to the Myriopticon. No. ___. Proprietor _______." "C. Harris" is listed as the proprietor on two of these tickets in pencil. u) One white ticket printed with "1.75" in black type. v) White calling card printed with "Mary A.
