Description

This original drawing depicts the statue of President Abraham Lincoln standing in front of a chair by Augustus Saint Gaudens with Uncle Sam standing in front of it facing away but looking over his shoulder. Uncle Sam's hat is off held in his right hand while he holds in his left hand a paper with the words "Struggle to Survive Socialism" printed on it. A quotation from President Lincoln's December 1862 Annual Message to Congress is printed in the upper right corner of the image: "We shall nobly save or meanly lose this last hope of earth." The caption "Abe's Admonition" is printed in the margin above the image.
