Description

This 21.65 mm diameter $5 coin features the head of Lady Liberty surrounded by thirteen stars on the obverse. The mint date 1861 is below. The reverse features a patriotic eagle with a shield in the center. "United States of America" circles around the eagle following the coin's edge. "Five D." is imprinted below the eagle following the coin's edge. This coin is one of sixteen different coins that were minted and placed into circulation during the administration of President Abraham Lincoln.
