Description

This engraving of President Abraham Lincoln was done from a photograph taken of him on November 8, 1863, in Washington, D. C. President Lincoln is shown seated beside a small table with his right hand resting on a document with the text "Emancipation Proclamation" showing on it. Lincoln is seated with his body turned to the viewer's left and with his head turned slightly toward the viewer's right. The chair has a rounded back and the cushion has astrick-shaped marks. A plain dark curtain forms part of the background of the image. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
