Description

a. This envelope holds 24 black and white commemorative prints depicting the artist's idea of events in the life of Abraham Lincoln while he and his family lived in Springfield, Illinois. The prints are reproductions of original art by Lloyd Ostendorf of Dayton, Ohio. Below the title and artist's name located at the top of the envelope is a statement of content: "A portfolio of historically accurate artwork depicting the life of Abraham Lincoln, the husband and father, at Christmas in his home at 8th and Jackson, Springfield, Illinois (1860) and the White House, Washington, D.C. (1861)." An illustration of Abraham and Mary Lincoln standing across the street from their house with the two younger boys running toward it is featured on the envelope. In the lower right corner of the image is the artist's signature and date handwritten in blue ink. The publisher's information is in the lower margin below the image. b. Printed on peach-toned paper this is the same image as that printed on the envelope. "Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln are Returning Home from Church, Sunday, Dec. 9, 1860. Willie and Tad Run on Ahead." c.
