Description

This engraving features a head and shoulders portrait of President Abraham Lincoln done from a photograph taken of him on March 6, 1865, in Washington, D. C. He is depicted facing the viewer with his head turned slightly toward the viewer's right and with a slightly annoyed look on his face. Tradition says that the photographer bribed Tad to get his father to pose on the White House balcony for him which would account for the president's annoyed expression.
