These two reproductions of original paintings by Fletcher C. Ransom feature a young Abraham Lincoln in New Salem, Illinois, standing beside a horse in front of the Onstodt Cooper Shop to the viewer's left and in the courtroom as a newly licensed lawyer to the viewer's right. Ransom was commissioned in the 1930s by the Illinois and Midway Railroad Company to create paintings about the life of Abraham Lincoln to be used for their calendar art.
