Description
This steel engraving was done from a photograph taken of President Abraham Lincoln in August of 1863 in Washington, D. C. President Lincoln is seated in a chair turned toward the viewer's right with his head turned slightly toward the viewer. His hands are clasped together in his lap. His right leg is crossed over the left at the knee. He is wearing a black frock coat, waistcoat, and bow tie with his watch fob partially visible. A small round table is to Lincoln's left on which a book has been placed. Part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, courtesy of the Indiana State Museum
